Meditation
seems to me to be the essential place to start our adventure into
consciousness.
Finding a way that will guide us to a new way of being ourselves,
that will work for us to embrace the challenges of everyday living,
and deepen an understanding of who we truly are, needs care and
consideration.
There are not many techniques available in the West apart from those
brought to us from the East, the ancient disciplines used for thousands
of years, together with the spiritual philosophies of many of the
great Masters, both ancient and modern.
Meditation is a 'Way' rather than a technique, and the aspirant
needs the guidance of a teacher.
It is a way of Being, a way of living, a way of walking along the
path of life and being in harmony with things as they are in the
present, an opportunity to pierce into the higher states of consciousness
and finally go beyond them.
Meditation will help you find your bonds, loosen them, and help
you re-centre and cast adrift all that slows down your process of
transformation, bringing you the Peace that you seek and truly deserve.
"Deep within us there is an amazing sanctuary, a Holy place,
a divine centre, a speaking voice, to which we may continuously
return."
Thomas Kelly, Quaker Mystic
"As
you learn to be open to the present moment you will become increasingly
aware of the Divine Presence in your mind and experience. Your personal
purpose will unfold in the expanded consciousness, helping you to
understand how you can best be of help to yourself and others".
Paul Ferrini from The Christ Mind
So
when we sit in our place or seat for meditation, we are coming back
to our original worthiness; the sitting is for us, our time and
we are building energy in the place we have chosen to honour in
our home, our sanctuary to Self.
"A
dignified sitting posture is in itself an affirmation of freedom,
of life's harmony, beauty and richness", says Kabat Zinn, a
Mindfulness Meditation master teacher, whose books are easy to read
and practise from.
Dedication to time and location is essential, being habitual
creates the will to do daily meditation making it easier to release
the "grasping, chattering" mind. As with all occupations of worth
the doing brings the success and rewards, which can be subtle and
profound.
A better control of emotions.
A continual point of stillness within, you may not have noticed
before.
Positive synchronicities.
A deeper understanding and purpose of life.
More tolerance and acceptance of others.
A steadying of blood pressure levels and the strengthening
of the immune system and "enlightening" of the cell system and subtle
energy fields.
Ideally
meditation is preferable twice a day, essential once. I welcome
you to this journey and offer a comprehensive list of the books
on this subject that I value.
There are many books to choose from, and methods to be drawn to.
You will certainly find the one for you at the right time.
